~My New Kitchen Shelf~

I found this vintage mirror for $10 at the thrift store.
The original color was
too dark for this spot in the kitchen.
I painted it with a white paint I had leftover, but it looked too white.
I went out and bought some of Annie Sloan's old white.
I liked the color as I was painting it.
The color was light enough and gave the spot a new look.
It was perfect how it picked up all the detail of the mirror.
I had bought some of Annie Sloan's dark wax to try too.
This is my first project with the wax and I'll have to probably take some classes but not too bad for a beginner.
I'm happy how it turned out.
I love my new vintage mirror.

  8. Looks great, Jody. I love the dark wax. It beings out all the details so nicely. I am waiting for a wax brush to come in from my supplier and that should help me with the technique.

  11. This is so funny - I have this same mirror in a bedroom and don't like to gold. I have had it for many years....time for change!

  12. The Annie Sloans and wax did the trick! How brave to put paint to it, but then since it wasn't working as it was, I'm sure it was easier. My trouble comes when a piece has sentimental strings tying me to it. That's what's so great about thrifty finds...they are easier to take chances with, aren't they? This one worked out so well. I bet you are loving it!
