~Enjoying Springtime in the Garden~

A cute pair of shoes with alyssum planted in them.
  A whimsical touch for Springtime!
Even a pair of rain boots,
 tells you it's
 Spring in the garden.
Fresh picked flowers next to a pair of candlesticks.
Our red amaryllis is in full bloom.
I wanted to share with you our roses in the front yard.
~White Iceberg Roses~
When all the roses are in bloom,
 it's quite a beautiful sight.
Over the garage door,
we have a Cecile Brunner Climbing Rose.
Every Spring, we have the same kind of birds
 nesting under the eve.
I love it when they come back every year.
I made a salad of strawberries,
with roasted walnuts, mint and feta cheese.
I found the cutest small plates for appetizers.
We also made Rosemary Bread.
Our son, Scott, gave me some of
 his sourdough starter.
My first attempt at sourdough bread.

It was a beautiful day in the garden today.
As I was walking through the garden,
I noticed some stepping stones.
We made them with our kids years ago.
I'm so happy we dated them.
I can't believe it was 16 years ago.
They've survived all this time in the garden.
~Wonderful Memories~
Gardens are a fun place for the whole family.
I planted extra Kale this year for our chickens.
They surprised Stan today sitting outside his office window.
They are a handful,
but they always make us laugh.
I'm not sure if you heard, but in San Diego
we will be on water rationing soon.
Stan and I are full time gardeners, so we are very concerned.
We are talking about changing out some of our areas and also adding drip where is needed.
Hopefully, we can adjust and make it work.
Hope you're all enjoying your gardens today!!

    1. Thanks Audra! We have some decorative bottles with bird toppers on them and I thought why not. They fit perfectly on top of the crystal candlesticks.

  3. Pretty arrangements. I love the boots. A system should help. If you get a lot of run off from your roof in a certain spot that would be great to collect too.

    1. Su, Great idea!! I wish it would rain more here in San Diego, but it doesn't. Working out a new system should help us with not watering where it is not needed. My favorite photo is the rain boots with the sunflowers too!!

    1. Hi Monique, We have a open planting area next to the garage door. The climbing rose has taken several years to get established there. I love the pink blooms on the Cecile Brunner too!!

  9. I've read about the water situation. You must be worried. Such beauty you have and you are great gardeners. I'm a huge fan of Rosemary. Love it in bread and I infuse olive for panninis

  11. Karen, Thanks for stopping by with your sweet comments. I had fun making the bread, but need lots of practice at it. I stopped by your blog and saw all your beautiful photos of the the Northwest Flower and Garden Show in Seattle. Stan and I missed seeing it, so I really enjoyed seeing through your eyes. Next year we're going to try and go to it. Thanks for sharing your photos!

    1. I had my husband make me the swing and I painted it blue. Then I just added the flower garland to it. I love looking at it from the house. When I was younger, that was my favorite thing to play on at the park. Ah! to be young again!
