I wanted to share with you an idea I saw from Matthew Mead.
~HERB BRUSHES~
Using wooden spoons, you cut herbs such as chives,
thyme, basil, oregano, sage, or rosemary.
Form the herb bunch around the handle of the wooden spoons and secure it with twine.
Melt butter and stir in salt and pepper.
Dip the ends of the herb brush to baste as the food cooks.
Herb brushes add favor to any grilled item,
both vegetable and meat.
Great cooking idea for the grill.
We just bought a dehydrator and wanted to
make some dried tomatoes for a salad.
Great way to use vegetables from your garden.
Carly made some Louisiana Chicken for us.
She found a recipe from Cheesecake Factory.
It was delicious!
I also made some Creamy Artichoke Soup.
Giada De Laurentiis's recipe was the perfect choice.
Our pear trees are just starting to bear fruit for the first time.
~Hosui Pear~
~Chives in Bloom~
Always a good thing
to see bees in our garden.
I just love this photo of the sprinklers on.
Our hill seems to light up.
New flowers for the garden to plant.
A nice surprise next to the bee skep.
Played with some stamps and colored jute.
The white iceberg roses in our front yard are in full bloom.
Love seeing them from the living room window.
Sunday night sunset in San Diego.
Just beautiful!!
Baked some madeleines for dessert.

I have been visiting on a whirlwind of late...so comments have been few and far between.
Mom had complete knee replacement surgery, a health scare with my Dad and the building of our deck.
We are back to normal for now!
Such a lovely and peaceful escape here!

ReplyDeleteCarol, Thanks for pinning the stamped sticks!! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteNot that I need a reason to move to San Diego (I love it) but I would do it just to hang out at your house!
ReplyDeleteLove everything you do, Jody.
I am a big fan of Matthew, too. Herb brushes are wonderful. I used to have a hedge wall of rosemary out front and I'd always look out and be startled by my neighbor out there getting cuttings for herb brushes! There was so much that I was happy to share with the neighbors. And it all just died one day. I was so sad. I have no idea why.
I will be needing a few of those madeleines please!
Tina, You are so cute! I would love to have you as a neighbor!! I have had rosemary too that has just died. I'm not sure why either. Our weather here gets so hot, so it might have needed more water, not sure. Thank goodness for nurseries. There's plenty of madeleines if you stop by!!
DeleteOh my gosh! Your photo's are beautiful! Love the herb brush idea and I've never thought to deyhdrate my extra tomatoes. This was such a fun post! Loved it all :-)
ReplyDeleteSherry, Thanks so much for stopping by. I know I will dehydrate oranges and apples for the fall for garland. Glad you liked the post!!
DeleteGorgeous photos Jody! I love the herb brushes! I love everything Matthew Mead comes up with! Thanks for joining HSH!
