~Roses, Roses, Roses~

I wanted to share with you a birthday cake,
I made for our daughter, Carly.
I made a naked cake using roses from our garden.
A simple vanilla cake with frosting.
The recipe is Martha Stewart's:
Here are some recent photos of our roses in the garden.
Enjoy!

The roses are so pretty this year.
I wanted to let you know,
I've been planning for awhile now to have knee replacement
surgery. Today is the day. I'm listening now to my body and this is what I need. Better quality of life! I'm so happy Stan is retired and will be home. I'm still going to blog and instagram, it's what I love to do. Gardening is our passion and will definitely be my inspiration to get back into shape. I'll keep you updated on my progress. I've done some posts to share in the weeks ahead.
Thank you for always being there for me.
Have fun in your gardens today, I'll be thinking of you

  1. Now you will feel great, no knee pain. just do what the doctors say and you will be out in your garden doing what you love. I can certainly tell that you love your roses and garden. Your roses are stunning - love them all. If your roses are like mine they are bigger, more blooms and such vibrant colors. Stop by and see my post on my garden.

I have arthritis in my one knee and I cannot kneel down so I bend and look crazy doing yard work LOL.

Wishing you a speedy recovery and you will be in my prayers for a speedy recovery.

    Hugs,
    Mary

  10. Jody, I will be thinking of you and hoping for a quick recovery. I was thinking that this was an awful time to have surgery because of the gardens. But you can garden almost year round in San Diego, so I guess now is not so bad, right?
Those roses are all so beautiful! I just put in an order for 3 David Austin roses and can't wait to get them. Take care, Cindy

  16. The roses in your garden are fabulous. Love love them and the arch is incredible. I am in the process of starting a pear tree arch. It will take a few years but I am hoping it will look as good as your rose one. Good luck with recovery. I have had a year of major surgery including open heart, but am now managing to get back into the garden and be inspired. Cheers Karen

  18. Oh, you know how much I loved this post, Jody. Roses are my favorite in every color. The picture with the pink roses and white pitcher is just lovely. And the climbing red roses are delightful. I hope you heal quickly from your knee surgery. Thinking of you today and sending thoughts of comfort and love.
