~Hanging Macrame Bird Feeder and Simple & Sweet Fridays #121~

I've been wanting to make a project with macrame.
Something simple for the garden.
I had the perfect spot for it under our Birch tree.
We've had so many birds this year,
I knew we can always use another bird feeder.
I used a 9" inch clay saucer and a 12" inch wreath.
Some mixed wooden beads from Michael's.
I cut 6 pieces of jute twine about 80" inches long.
I had made projects in the 70's using macrame.
I needed a refresher lesson so I looked up macrame knots on the internet. You can make it in any design you'd like.
I wanted something easy.
I did an alternating square knots and then
added 3 beads every 2" inches.
Tied it altogether at the top, then added a hook to hang it from.
Then added the saucer in the center.
I love the look of fresh cuttings from the garden.
I added some of the birch branches to it...
Fresh flowers and some herbs.
Can't wait to see what kind of birds come.
I found a great buy this week at Trader Joe's.
Lavender for $3.49 a bundle.
Love that store!

Can't wait to see all your inspiring projects
you've been working on this week!!

~Relaxing in the Garden~

I was relaxing in the garden today,
 reading Rachel Ashwell's book,
 "Couture Prairie".
I love all her inspirational photos,
just dreaming of a big barn in our backyard.
Dreaming is a good thing.
I'm working on a simple garden project.
I'll share it with you tomorrow at
Simple & Sweet Fridays.
Happy Wednesday!

~Coeur a la Creme with Raspberries~

I've been wanting to make
"Coeur a la Creme with Raspberries"
 for dessert.
Since my daughter, Katie and her boyfriend, Harry were here,
it was the perfect time to try the recipe.
Katie made some avocado bruschetta with cilantro and cherry tomatoes for appetizers.
Harry made Salmon in foil with green beans and broccoli and
mashed sweet potatoes with cinnamon.
I used Ina Garten's recipe from her book
"Barefoot in Paris".
I found my dish at Sur La Table for the dessert.
I used fresh vanilla bean.
Grated Lemon Zest
Of course, cream cheese, confectioners' sugar
and heavy cream. That's what makes it taste so good!
Line the dish with cheesecloth and refrigerate.
Make the raspberry sauce with fresh raspberries.
A delicious dessert.
For a perfect dinner.

~Sunday Gardening~

I found the most charming basket at
a vintage store.
I've been placing it in different spots
to see where I like it the best.
I think for right now,
I'll leave it here with fresh flowers in it.
Walking through the garden I thought,
I'd share some photos with you.

Pretty Yellow Flowers

The pumpkin patch is growing.
I saw a little lizard riding a mosaic turtle, too funny!
Miniature Butterfly Bush
A Beautiful Crape Myrtle and
a yellow Dahlia with dark leaves.
