~Edible Flower Bark & Stan's Retirement After 38 Years & Simple & Sweet Fridays #207~

I love the Victoria Magazine.
They have so many wonderful articles and inspiring photographs!
In the March/April issue of Bliss Victoria,
they had an Edible-Flower Bark article in their Cooking and Entertaining section.
I knew I had to make some for our family.
It was their special Garden Issue and
you know how much I love gardening.
I always have edible flowers growing in our garden,
that way I can use them in any recipe.
 I used some white chocolate,
then heated it up and poured it onto
some parchment paper to harden.
I used flowers from the garden.
Roses, calandulas, lavender, pansies, geraniums
 and chopped pistachios.
I sprinkled some salt onto it.
A beautiful bouquet of color!!
With some vanilla ice cream,
it was a perfect dessert!!

My husband Stan is officially retired now.
After 38 years working for the same company,
we decided it was time.
We made a special dinner to celebrate.
Ahi, Avocado and Shrimp Stack for starters.
Filet mignon, mushrooms and tattooed potatoes for dinner.
Our daughter, Carly,
 made her famous bearnaise sauce.
It was delicious!!
Some strawberries for dessert!
It was a meal our family will never forget.
Happy Retirement, Honey!!
It was a wonderful weekend!!

Hoping you all had a great week too.
Let's see what you've been working on!

~My Birthday Celebration and Simple & Sweet Fridays #183~

My birthday isn't until September 23rd,
but my girlfriends gave me a party early!!
I wanted to share with you some photos of the celebration.
My girlfriend, Virginia hosted the party at her beautiful home.
The theme was Sunflowers, so there were Sunflowers everywhere!
The dining room table was set with a sunflower tablecloth.
There were mason jars filled with Fall flowers
 in them as the centerpiece.
So pretty!
We were having such a good time we forgot to take pictures of the Watermelon Mojitos Mary made.
Appetizers were Trader Joe's spanakopita, pita bread and hummus. Tami made grilled shrimp.
It was yummy!
Yuri made a wonderful Greek salad.
Virginia made lunch,
salmon with lemon & dill sauce,
rice pilaf and sautéed squash.
It was so good!
Linda made a ricotta cheese pound cake that was soaked with passion fruit syrup, and chopped ripe mangos in the top of passion fruit curd. Outside was buttercream and then smothered in a chocolate ganache.
It was heavenly!
Mary was in charge of the craft. We made handmade tea bags with different teas and decorated
boxes. It was a lot of fun!!

I wanted to share with you the bags I made for the party gifts,
I gave out. I stamped music paper with a flower stamp and watercolored them.
I glued the paper onto brown bags and then punched out butterflies.
I wrapped up some pretty chocolate caramel petit fours.
You know I love stamping,
I had to make some tags.
I added an extra touch to an Anthropologie box.

Special bouquets of freesias for the girls.

Linda, Virginia, Tami, Me, Mary and Yuri
It was a very Fun birthday party!
Thank you, girlfriends!
