~Inspired Vintage Papers~

I found some old vintage shelf paper
and wanted to make candles with it.
I noticed it was made by Revlon.
I found it buried underneath some things at a thrift store.
When I looked at the print, I loved it!
It looks like a scene in a Paris Park.
I painted some Mod Podge on both sides of the candles
and glued the paper down
and waited for it to dry.
I like the way the scenes light up.
I will probably just use them once in awhile
because they look so pretty, I want them to last.
I also would not leave them burning, unless I was home.
I've seen people covering candles with sheet music too.
I had an old opera book with sheet music.
A little opera music throughout the house sounded good.
With some lights on the mantel.
I can hear music everywhere.
A fun project with some vintage paper!

  3. Your paper is very pretty and the candle idea is lovely, they would make a beautiful gift and have got me inspired for things to make for Christmas. Another thing you could do with the paper (and it won't get burnt so lasts forever) is to cover a glass vase or jar with a strip of your paper and a little strip of silver wrapping thread to edge it top and bottom - and put a little sand in the bottom and a candle in the middle, when your candle is alight the paper 'lantern' glass will light up and look so very pretty - it is safe too - hope you won't mind my idea but your paper would lend itself so well to this, Betty.

  5. This all looks so cosy! What a wonderful idea to make candles a little more personalised. I can just imagine them flickering on a summer's evening or a cold winter's night. Take care. Chel x

  15. Such a lovely way to use those papers. Did the scent last on the sheets?

    1. Heather, I love the papers too! I think the paper lost it's scent through the years. So it works out good when the candle is burning.

  19. The paper you found is fantastic. Once the candles burn down some I am sure the scene will really light up good. I used to sell candles for PartyLite and I have a suggestion; to save on your papered pillar candles once your candle is burned down to a level where you like it best, at this point burn a tea light in the pillar candle (just set the tea light in there making sure it is level or course) this will save the pillar candle and no one knows there is a tea light in there. Hope this is helpful, this way you can enjoy your candles without using them all up.
Found you today from Common Ground.
