~ The Christmas Holiday is Here with Gingerbread Biscotti and Simple & Sweet Fridays #196~

We love biscotti and wanted to try this recipe we saw online at
Starbucks Copycat Recipe for
~Gingerbread Biscotti~
I always love having fresh homemade cookies out,
 when family and friends
 come over for the holidays.

GINGERBREAD BISCOTTI
Starbucks Copycat Recipe

1 cup butter (softened)
2 cups sugar
5 eggs
grated rind from one orange
1/2 cup dark molasses
5 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cloves
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons powdered ginger
4 cups toasted pecans (or hazelnuts)
melted white chocolate, later

In one bowl blend butter and sugar with a mixer until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and blend until smooth. Add orange peel and molasses and mix well. In another bowl stir well or sift flour, baking powder, salt, cloves, cinnamon and ginger. Slowly add the dry mixture to the wet mixture with the mixer running. Lightly toast and chop the nuts. Add them to the dough mixture. You'll probably have to use your hands to work them into the dough. Chill the dough for four hours.

Divide the dough into several portions. Roll it into logs about 1 1/2" in diameter a little shorter than the length of your cookie sheet. Flatten the logs a little with your hand and space them 2-3 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 325 degrees for 40-45 minutes until done inside. Remove and cool for 10 minutes. Lower oven temperature to 300 degrees.

Handling the baked "logs" carefully. With a sharp knife slice them at an angle into 1/2" to 3/4" slices. Place the slices cut side down on baking sheets and bake 10-15 minutes. Turn them over and bake another 10 - 15 minutes until dry. After they are completely cool dip them in melted white chocolate.
The kids loved drizzling melted white chocolate
 and dipping the cookies.

They are a perfect sweet Christmas cookie!!
I love singing Christmas songs with the kids around the fireplace.
I copied some Christmas music from Graphic Fairy today.
Displaying fresh spices and dried fruits tells me
 the holidays are here.
I think it's time for me to make some mulled wine.
Love the smell cooking on the stove.
I went for a birthday visit this week to
my sister, Charmaine's house
in
Genoa, Nevada.
I wanted to share some photos of the snow!!

Just Beautiful!!
Have a great week!

~Hot Chocolate Gifts and Simple & Sweet Fridays #192~

You can find lots of great ideas for handmade gifts on Pinterest.
I wanted to make a simple gift for friends for the holidays.
A cup of hot chocolate to warm you up,
 would be a great gift!
I made handmade tags for the gifts.
I found the test tubes at Michael's Craft Store.
I poured in hot chocolate powder, then chocolate sprinkles and
then some mini marshmallows.
A perfect Fall gift for friends!!
I love lights in the Fall!
Especially from our view from the kitchen to our patio!
I used some twinkling battery operated lights and added some spanish moss and homegrown squashes.
There's something magical about lights in the Fall.
Maybe because,
 it gets darker earlier now.

I saw this recipe in the October 2015,
Food & Wine Magazine.
~Roasted Acorn Squash with Garlic Butter and Burrata~
It's a simple recipe with lots of good flavors.
It was so good!!
Lemon cannoli for dessert!
I had to share with you a photo of
our Halloween costume this year.
Tom Hanks in Cast Away, great movie!!
Stan painted Wilson's picture, it turned out great!
Hope you all had a wonderful Halloween!!

I also wanted to thank you all,
 for sharing every week,
 your inspiring ideas and crafts!!
You're the Best!!

~Outdoor Fall Party and Simple & Sweet Fridays #89~

We invited some neighbors over for a Fall Dinner Party.
The weather was perfect to eat outdoors.
I found this tablecloth at our favorite store,
Home Goods. It was a perfect pattern for a Fall Party.
I love using burlap in the tablescape.
It gives it that harvest look.
I have two of the prettiest chandeliers over the tables.
Autumn is one of my favorite seasons.
I added my pumpkin plates my friend, Linda gave me.
It added the Fall touch to the table.

My friend, Margie made these delicious Spice Mini Cakes.
I had to make a couple of loaves of bread.
And of course,
some pomegranate martinis.
We all had such a good time visiting.
A special night and a
surprise cupcake for the birthday girl.
A Wonderful Fall Dinner Party!
