We always love the longer nights of summer
and enjoy being in the garden.
Here's a recipe to try for a summer night.
Spiced Pear Punch
Makes 1 serving
3 cups ice
1 1/2 ounces pear vodka
1 ounce fresh orange juice
1/2 ounce St. Germain
1/4 ounce Angostura bitters
Garnish: fresh thyme sprig
In a cocktail shaker, combine ice and remaining 4 ingredients. Shake vigorously for 20-30 seconds.
Strain mixture into chilled glass.
Garnish with fresh thyme sprig.
Scott made us fresh homemade pretzels.
They were so good!
Figs are another favorite in the summer garden.
A fresh salad with mixed greens, feta, raspberries, candied walnuts and fig halves.

Fig- Ruby Port Preserves
Here is the recipe from
Food Network Kitchen
Bring 1 pound chopped fresh figs, 1 1/2 cups sugar, the seeds from 1/2 vanilla bean and a pinch of salt to a boil in a saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar melts. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until a drop of the mixture sets on a chilled plate, about 20 minutes. Remove from the heat. Stir in 1 tablespoon each lemon juice and ruby port, and a pinch of pepper. Fill sterilized jars, leaving a 1/2-inch headspace, then seal and process for 15 minutes.
Our figs in our garden are just starting to bear fruit.
Can't wait to make more recipes with them.
I also wanted to share with you photos of our garden.
