~French Toile Lampshades~

I wanted to add some French flair to a chandelier I had in the garden.
I found these lampshades at a thrift store for 50 cents each. What a bargain! I love the black & white toile, it's so French. I went to Joann's Fabric Store and they had just what I wanted on sale.
I cut out a pattern out of paper. I have never made lampshades before, so it was all trial and error.
I cut the material out and used Loctite spray adhesive to tack it down.
I picked out two trims and decided to go with the classic look.
I didn't cut the material perfect so it was easy to hide with the black trim.
I just love the way they all looked finished.
I placed them on the chandelier for that French romantic look.
I love the way the gazebo looks now.
We'll see how long the lampshades last outside.
I can always find more at a thrift store.
I have another idea for this spot.
I'll show you soon!

  5. So very pretty! Love the light/lampshade out in the garden under the pergola. Your garden looks so beautiful! I also like how you added the toile to the shades. I'm in the midwest, and this wouldn't last long, well maybe this years since we had such little rain. My fingers and toes are crossed you’ll share your creative inspiration with Sunday’s Best – sharing is a good thing!

  9. Wow you did good, I have a chandelier with 15 shades so I haven't done anything with them because I thought it was going to cost a fortune, but such inspiration I will be looking for those $.50 cent shades and get going on this awesome project, perfect timing!

  27. Hi Jody and Stan!!

Thank you for sharing this idea with us!!. I found three chandeliers on craigslist for $20.00. They were a beautiful brushed silver. We have a black wrought iron headboard and a brass chandy, so, my husband spray painted the new chandy black. We put it up this past weekend and boy does it look great!! Now I had to figure out what shades were going onto it.

Now I have my answer, thanks to you!!

    Have a great week!!
