I wanted to share with you a project I've been wanting to make.
~A Garden Wire Cloche~
Our chickens discovered the kale in our raised beds,
so I used what I had to cover them.
As you can see, it didn't work.
I wanted to make a whimsical wire cloche to protect the plants.
Stan bought me some chicken wire and
showed me what tools I needed.
When using chicken wire, gloves are a Must!!
I had a steel dome cloche and I wanted to copy the shape,
so I bent the wire over it.
I then cut the wire leaving extra to bend around it.
A pair of pliers help with bending the wire,
so there are no poking pieces.
It took a little bit of time but,
I love how the shape turned out.
I ended up making six of them.
Just enough to cover the kale plants,
so the chickens can't eat them.
I decided to put old vintage glass door knobs on the top of the wire cloches for the finials.
They give the raised bed a whimsical look.
I picked some eggplant, carrots and garlic today.
I have enough for us and to share some with our neighbors.
The rudbeckia is just so pretty this year.
The garden is in full bloom!
Our first dahlia for the summer.
