I wanted to share with you the craft
we did for Linda's birthday party.
The theme was "Sophisticated Safari".
I was in charge of the craft and thought
we could decorate a clipboard with a Safari theme.
I found the clipboards at Office Depot and
the Safari paper at Michael's.
I needed to make a demo for the girls to get an idea how to embellish the clipboards.
I glued the paper with tacky glue
but, you could use mod podge too.
I had some shiny brooches I got at Walmart
for the center of the burlap roses.
I bought a collection of different size pearls.
Some bling!
Burlap, linen, tulle and glitter.
Each of the girls had a different print.
I cut strips of paper to make little rosettes.
Martha Stewart has a scoreboard for making different projects.
My girlfriend, Jackie told me about it.
It's a great tool for making small rosettes.
I made a burlap rose for the center.
I looked on Pinterest for ideas.
You measure a strip of burlap 36 inches long and about 2 1/2 inches wide. Depending on how big you'd like to make your rose.
You tie a knot on one end of the strip.
Fold the burlap in half as you glue down with a glue gun.
Twist and glue down as you turn the burlap
around the center of the rose.
You can make the rose tight or loose.
Depending on the look you want.
I left the end piece of burlap on to cover some of the clipboard.
I glued my rhinestone brooch in the center.
Then added some black tulle behind it to hide the clipboard.
I added my small rosettes beside the center
and glued a pearl in the center.
I made smaller roses with white burlap.
They were 1 1/2 inches wide and 36 inches long.
Then glued them on the sides.
This was my finished clipboard.
I loved how it turned out!
My girlfriends masterpieces!!
We all had a great time being creative!
It was a fun project!!
